Historical Note Look soon for a glance back at an undefeated filly who emerged onto the racing scene and displayed astonishing brilliance only to be fallen by a fatal illness. Landaluce was trained by D. Wayne Lukas and when he purchased the daughter of Seattle Slew at auction his comments were, "She filled my criteria." The pedigree marked her catalog page but something else extracted his winning bid. This morning I called Wayne to be reminded of what that was and he shared this with me, "She had the head of a princess, a butt like a fry-cook and walked like a hooker."
