WHAT HORSE IS THE ONLY ONE TO WIN THE PRINCESS ROONEY STAKES AT BOTH 3 AND 4?
6/27/2019

The Princess Rooney Stakes to be run at Gulfstream Park this Saturday was first run in 1985. This year is its 35th year and  there is just one 3-year-old enter facing four 4-year-olds and two 5-year-olds. The race was originally run at Calder Racetrack in south Florida. Only two horses have won the Princess Rooney as 3-year-olds.  Sweet Proud Polly did it in 1990. She was trained by Ron Sarazin and ridden by Pedro Rodiguez.  In 1986, Classy Tricks won the race in 1986. That year she was trained by Ron Felix and ridden by Robert Lester. Classy Tricks won a second time in 1987 as a 4-year-old. That year she was, also, trained by Ron Felix, but ridden by Marland Suckie. This year will Trenchtown Cat join that 3-year-old club? Morning line odds suggest the bettors will not think she will.
