The Fayette Stakes (GII) which is run at Keeneland this weekend is a race for horses that are not running in the Breeders’ Cup next week. However, it has been the stepping stone for Breeders’ Cup Classic runner in the following year. In 2009 Blame won the Fayette Stakes (GII) as 3-year-old  He ended his year with six starts with four wins, one second and one third. His 4-year-old career was even more successful with a record of five starts with four wins and one second. What made 2010 for Blame so important was his Breeders’ Cup Classic win. In that race he gave Zenyatta her only loss of her career.  Under the lights at Louisville Zenyatta trailed the field until the stretch when she barreled to finish line coming up inches short to Blame.
