WHAT MAJOR RACE DID FOREGO WIN FOR FOUR CONSECUTIVE YEARS?

This weekend at Saratoga a race will honor one of the greatest racehorse in this country’s history. The great Forego will be remembered with this race. Forego was the Champion Sprinter in 1974. He was Older Horse of the Year for 4 years in a row from 1974 to 1977. He was Horse of the Year for three consecutive years from 1974 to 1976. Overlapping these award-winning-years and certainly contributing to them, Forego won the Woodward Stakes for four consecutive years from 1974 to 1977. The first two years that he won the race (1974-75) it was run at 12 furlongs (1 ˝ miles). The next two years that he won the race (1976-1977) it was run at 9 furlongs (1 1/8 miles). Not bad for a champion sprinter.
