WHAT THREE JOCKEYS WITH A WIN IN THIS WEEKEND’S RAVEN RUN STAKES (GII) STAND A CHANCE TO TIE PAT DAY FOR THE MOST WINS IN THE RAVEN’S RUN STAKES (GII)?
10/21/2021

The Raven Run Stakes (GII) to be run at Keeneland this weekend was first run in 1999. That year Pat Day won to begin his record for winning the Raven’s Run the most times (3). In 1999 he won it with Dreamy Maiden. In 2001 he won it with Nasty Storm. In 2003 he won it with Yell. His record has stood for the past 18 years. The large field of 13 give three jockeys with a win to tie the record set by Pat Day. None are Morning Line favorites. With the best odds to win is Johnny Velazquez who rides Zainalarab at 6-1. He won the race in 2008 aboard Informed Decision and in 2012 with Gypsy Robin. Corey Lanerie is aboard Strong Silence at 15-1. Lanerie won the race in 2010 with Hilda’s Passion and in 2019 with Bell’s the One. The third rider with a chance is Julien Laparoux who rides Joey’s Rocket at 15-1. To do so they have to beat three short priced favorites trained by Bill Mott (Obligatory (3-1) and Caramel Swill (7-2)) and Mark Casse (Souper Sensational (4-1).
