WHO WON THE 2006 INDIANA DERBY?
7/13/2018

The Indiana Derby is a race for 3-year-olds run at the Indiana Grand. It began its run at that track in 2013 with a purse, presumably because of casino revues, $500,000. From 1995 to 2012 it was run at Hoosier Park. During those 19 years some interesting horses won the race. They include: Orientate (2001), Perfect Drift (2002), Brass Hat (2004) and Luckin at Lucky (2010). The most memorable race in that period was the 2006 edition when the race ended in a dead heat between Cielo Gold and Star Dabbler. Although the race didn’t end there. The owners contested the outcome with Star Dabbler’s connection thought they had won. The argument went to arbitration, but the dead heat was up held.
