WHAT JOCKEY HOLDS THE RECORD FOR THE MOST WINS IN THE CHARLES TOWN CLASSIC RACE?
4/20/2018

The Charles Town Classic (GII) is run at 1 1/8 miles (9 Furlongs) over the unusually configured, six-furlong Charles Town racing surfaces. Benefiting from the on-track casino the purse for this race is an unbelievable $1,200,000. The winner will have a pay day of around $720,000 (60%). Skill at maneuvering this six-furlong, tight turn tracks will determine the winner. Jockey Javier Castellano seems to have the formula for managing the turns and the outcome of the race. He holds the record for most wins at three. He won it first in 2012 aboard Caixa Eletronica. Four years later he won with Stanford (2016). He won last year (2017) on Imperative. Castellano knows this track and how to win on it. As result he was given the mount this year on War Story, Morning Line favorite. If he wins this year he will increase his record to four wins which accounts for 40% the times the race has been run (2009-2018).
