Zenyatta was the first female horse to win the grade one Breeders’ Cup Classic. She did it in 2009. The following year she tried to win the Classic back-to-back joining Tiznow as the only two horse to ever do it. In her usual style she spotted the field 18 lengths in the 2010 race. She made her move into history with a stretch run that had fans on the edges of their seats. As the finish line approached it looked like Mike Smith, her jockey, had it time just right. But as the lights on the finish line showed she was a half-a-head short to Blame.
