HOW MANY DIFFERENT TRACKS HAVE HOSTED THE BREEDERS' CUP SINCE IT WAS FIRST RUN IN 1984?

 The Breeders’ Cup was inaugurated in 1984 with its first running at Hollywood Park in California. In the 33 years that followed the Breeders’ Cup was hosted by 11 other tracks bringing the total number of tracks hosting the Breeders’ Cup to twelve. Here are they are with the number of times each hosted the Cup in parentheses.

3.      Santa Anita (9)

4.      Churchill Downs (8)

5.      Gulfstream Park (3)

6.      Belmont Park (4)

7.      Woodbine (1)

8.      Arlington Park (1)

12.   Del Mar (1)

This year it returns to Churchill Downs for the 9th time which as of Saturday night will have tied Santa Anita for the track to host the Breeders’ Cup the most times. However, next year it returns to Santa Anita giving it the record of hosting the Breeders’ Cup 10 times and in 2020 it will be run again at Keeneland. The 2021 Breeders Cup returns to Del Mar.
