WHAT HORSE WON THE THE FIRST SHAM STAKES?

 The Sham Stakes (GIII) was named after the horse that ran in the shadows of the great Secretariat during the Triple Crown races of 1973–Sham. The race was first run in 2001. The winner, Wild and Wise, was trained by Bob Baffert who has the record for winning five Sham Stakes. It was ridden by Victor Espinoza who is tied in winning the most Sham Stakes with Alex Solis and Garret Gomez. Each have four wins.
